Week 4 News

Greetings from the second grade class. One theme this week was to create and write a story. I'll be reading the students second drafts this weekend and next week the students will publish their story.

In science this week we continued with our Natural Resource Chapter and the students have been working on making a power point that will be finished next week and posted on my blog (so long as I can get it posted).

Next week some dates to keep in mind our as follows.

Monday is a holiday - no school.

Tuesday will be the spelling test on the following words (railroad, airport, seat belt, everywhere, homesick, understand, background, anything, ninety-nine, already).

Also if you have extra empty shoe boxes in your house could you have your child bring them in on Monday? They will be using them in Music class.

Wednesday will be the unit 5 math test.

Friday will be the Science quiz on chapter 7.

Have a great long weekend.

Week 3 News

Dear Parents,

The students had another busy week this week. In writing class they started writing a story using detail and similes (as big as a house, the rain sounded like a beating drum, etc). Morris Glietzman's speech motivated the students to write a story and aided with his advise that every story has a problem and a character that you can related to. The first drafts are being worked on and we will be continuing to work on them in week 3.
In Science we finished Chapter 6 Rocks, Soils, and Fossils. Next week we will start Chapter 7 Using and Saving Resources. Instead of doing a presentation in week 3 the students will be making a PowerPoint which will be posted on my blog when finished.

Notes for week 3

Spelling test will be on Monday on the following words; starve, charm, beard, scarf, spare, stairs, year, charge, dairy, scarce

Reading test will be on Wednesday.

Math test on Chapter 13 will be on Thursday.

Have a lovey weekend,

Off and Running

Dear All Interested 2nd Grade Class People,

This was a great first week back to school after the week off for Chinese New Year. We now have 10 students in the class. Jasper is a new member to our class. The week was very busy starting new chapters and books in almost every subject.  Mr. Butcher and Mr. Rob were able to come by and watch all the presentations, which I have to say was overall the best presentation of the year. The students put in a lot of work into it and it really showed.

Dates for week two (Feb-14-18)

Monday - Spelling test over the following words; gear, spear, sharp, stare, alarm, cheer, square, hairy, heart, weird).

Morris Gleitzman will also visit the school on Monday afternoon to do a read-a-loud and sign the students books. Parents are invited so I hope to see those who can make it there.

Tuesday is the Math test on unit 12.

Wednesday is the handwriting test.

Friday is the Science test on unit 6.

Have a great weekend,

James Anderson
