Green World field trip is Thursday!
There is a chance of rain tomorrow.
Students please bring their own small backpack with the following items: small umbrella, rain coat, water bottle, snack, pencil.
* Lunch will be given to the students once on the bus and they will also put this in their backpack.
Please wear your HIS shirt and walking shoes that you don't mind if they get wet.
Students are to come to the classroom by 8:30. Parents that are coming on the bus can wait in the lobby until our bus is ready. Our bus departure time could get pushed back to 8:45 depending on when the 4-6 graders leave.

April 21 - May 1
This week was highlighted by the Science Fair. The students prepared for and presented their project very well. Nicely done to all!
In Math this week we concluded Topic 16, Graphs and Probability and started Topic 17, Numbers and Patterns to 1,000.
For English this week we studied Unit 9, Capitalization and Punctuation. Next week we will continue with this unit.
In Reading class we read a story called, "Carousel" and next week will read and discuss the story called "Thunder Cake".
For Science this week we had the culminating project of the Science Fair and we also started Chapter 11, Sound.
In Social Studies this week we reviewed and took the quiz on the unit titled, People Long Ago.
Congratulations to Jungwon Yoo for being awarded a certificate of achievement based on achievement in school, extra curriculum activities and moral character. Well Done!
Congratulations to Katrina So for being the Student of the Week! Katrina did a wonderful job on the Science Fair and has been a good friend to so many of her second grade classmates.
On May 1st (Thursday) we have our class field trip. We will leave the school at 8:30am and return by 5:00pm. All students must ride on the school bus to Green World. Please let me know if you plan on driving your child home with you at the end of the day. Students should bring and be able to carry their own small backpack with the following items.

- hat or sun protection
- water bottle
- snack
Lunch will be provided by the school to those who eat the school lunch. Please wear appropriate walking shoes as we will be doing lots of walking.

April 14-25
The second grade is heating up and so is the weather. We had a good week which has been highlighted by the preparation of the Science Fair.
In Math this week we continued with Topic 16, Graphs and Probability. The students enjoyed making their own survey and creating a bar graph with their results. Next week we will conclude this topic and start Topic 17, Numbers and Patterns to 1,000.
For English this week we started Unit 9, More Capitalization and Punctuation and next week we will continue with this.
In Reading this week we read a story called Jalapeno Bagels and discussed how different cultures enjoy different kinds of foods. Next week we will read a story called Carousel.
For Social Studies we continued with our unit titled, People Long Ago. We looked at various landmarks, monuments, heroes and holidays. Next week we will conclude this unit of study.
In Science we have been busy preparing for the Science Fair which will be held on Tuesday April, 22. Parents are welcome to come in and watch the students' presentations and participate in the experiments.
