Another week has flown by with the students learning and exploring throughout!
In Science we finished our most recent portfolio entry on ways to reduce, reuse and recycle both at home and school. At the end of the month students will be singing a song to the school to kick off April's word of the month which is Conservation. Here is a link to the song if you wish to practice singing it at home http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USo_vH1Jz7E.
In Social Studies we started and will continue to learn about our ancestors with a focus on studying maps on people who have migrated.
In Math we learned how to count and add coins. Next week in Reading class we will read two stories from the book. One is a fantasy called "Little Grunt and the Big Egg" and the other is a nonfiction called "Mighty Dinosaurs". We will look at how these stories compare and contrast to each other.
Next week we will also start projects for the Science Fair which will be held on the morning of April 25th. The students will be in groups with the following projects to present.
1) MakingSolar Panel cars
2) Constructing a tin foil boat and testing how much weight it can hold.
3) Making from scratch a magnetic compass
4) Making an erupting Volcano from scratch.
If your child would like to present something different at home and bring it in they are more than welcome to do so. Please let me know if your child would like to do their own project so I can give them the criteria to follow.
This week's Student of the Week is Michael Wang. Michael has been very cooperative within the class. Well done!
